From identifying a critical infrastructure gap to deploying commercial-scale refining capacity, Syntra Refining is addressing North America's midstream bottleneck in critical minerals processing.

2017-2019: Founding Era

IDENTIFYING THE
INFRASTRUCTURE GAP

Syntra Refining was founded after founder Nifemi Oguntuase identified a fundamental structural inefficiency in North America's critical minerals value chain. While billions flowed into upstream mining and downstream battery manufacturing, the midstream refining infrastructure required to connect them remained fragmented and offshore.

Through extensive technical research and market analysis, it became clear that the constraint wasn't demand, geology, or capital availability—it was refining capacity. North American manufacturers were dependent on foreign jurisdictions for over 85% of battery-grade refined materials, creating supply chain vulnerabilities and cost inefficiencies.

Syntra was established to deploy advanced hydrometallurgical refining infrastructure that could process complex domestic feedstocks at battery-grade purity specifications, operating at commercial scale with economic efficiency.

OUR FOUNDER

THE FOUNDER

Building transformative refining infrastructure demands rare convergence of technical expertise, financial acumen, and strategic vision

Founder & Chief Executive Officer

Process Chemistry Resource Finance Infrastructure Development

Nifemi Oguntuase founded Syntra Refining after identifying a fundamental structural inefficiency in North America's critical minerals value chain. With expertise spanning mineral process chemistry, institutional resource finance, and exploration consulting, she recognized what capital markets had systematically undervalued: the midstream refining bottleneck.

Under her leadership, Syntra is establishing the refining infrastructure backbone that makes domestic supply chains economically competitive and strategically secure.

"North America has the geology, the capital, and the demand. What's missing is the infrastructure to connect them. Syntra exists to build that infrastructure—not as an R&D project, but as operational refining capacity deployed at commercial scale."
